Why don\u2019t I call myself a K9 Behaviouralist, Behaviourist or Psychologist?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I am not a qualified veterinarian and the industry is unregulated in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dog Trainer, Dog Behaviourist, Dog Behaviour Specialist, Dog Psychologist, Dog Behaviour Consultant are titles that people can use without holding any qualification in Australia at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only accredited courses for the training of pet dogs in Australia include Cert IV in Animal Behaviour and Training (current course) and Cert III in Dog Behaviour and Training (unavailable since 31 Dec 2019). (This information is correct as at 01\/01\/25)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are other qualifications which relate to a dogs care but not specific to behaviour and training such as Cert III or Diploma in Animal Care Services, Animal Studies, Animal Technology and Companion Animal Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overseas, a person can use the title behaviouralist if they hold qualifications approved in that country, which include a Batchelor\u2019s degree in biological or behavioural science and combined with registration to a recognized organisation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n

My qualifications are recognized in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am nationally accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and have many years\u2019 of multi disciplined professional experience which provide me with a working understanding of \u2018Behaviourism\u2019 and other behaviour theories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2008      Cert III in Dog Behaviour and Training<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2011    Cert III in Security Operations<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2015    Cert IV Mental Health<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2015    Cert IV Alcohol and Other Drugs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2016    Diploma Financial Counselling<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Graduate Certificate in Domestic Violence<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 Graduate Certificate in Client Assessment and Case Management<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 Cert IV in Training and Assessment<\/p>\n\n\n\n
